Raffles TCM Pain Management Package
What causes pain?
According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), pain is a result of Qi and Blood being obstructed. This may be due to external influences such as cold or trauma. Underlying conditions of deficiency in the body may also cause pain.
Various methods can be used to manage pain symptoms. These include acupuncture, cupping therapy, Tui Na and Chinese herbal medicine. They help increase Qi and Blood circulation, which in turn promotes natural healing and reduces pain symptoms. Acupuncture, in particular, is used as a treatment method for many diseases and disorders, including a number of pain-related conditions such as:
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Sciatica
- Headaches
- Tennis elbow
- Arthritis
- Sprains
- Fibromyalgia
- Postoperative pain
- Cancer pain

We have treatment programmes for conditions such as:
Neck Pain
Many people have deskbound jobs, and are too busy to stretch or move. When daily stress builds up over time on the neck, the muscular tension will result in pain. Neck pain from many different causes can be treated with commonly used TCM methods such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and Tui Na (acupressure).
Back Pain
Back pain is a common condition affecting up to 8 in 10 people worldwide. The lower back is the most common site of pain. Back pain can be accompanied by leg pain or numbing sensations radiating down the leg. This condition is painful, disabling and can be long-lasting if it left untreated. TCM uses a variety of methods to address back pain. These include acupuncture, cupping, herbal formulas and Tui Na. These methods facilitate recovery by helping to increase Qi and Blood circulation, especially at the area of discomfort.
Arthritis
Arthritis is used to describe a range of joint diseases. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, stiffness and reduced range of motion. There are different types of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. Arthritis in its many forms can be effectively managed through TCM treatment.
Acupuncture is widely used to improve the flow of obstructed Qi and Blood to increase joint flexibility and reduce pain. It can also be used together with moxibustion, which helps warm the meridians and relieve cold aches.
Herbal medication serves as a complement to nourish joints and facilitate the flow of Qi and Blood.
