Periodontics

Periodontics or Periodontology is the branch of dentistry that deals with the treatment of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth, especially the gums. Gum treatment is necessary to prevent tooth loss.

Common periodontal procedures include scaling and root planing (careful cleaning to remove plaque and tartar), periodontal surgery, dental implants, and cosmetic procedures such as crown lengthening, soft tissue grafts, ridge augmentation.
