Profile:

Ms Yana Ricart is a counsellor at Raffles Counselling Centre. Originally from Latin America, she has spent more than 25 years in Asia, primarily in Singapore and Japan. She is multi-lingual and is able to conduct counselling in English, Spanish, and Japanese. Yana also understands Portuguese and French. Her multi-cultural background and experiences allows her to empathise with clients from different cultures.

Yana is experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults. She is skilled in helping her clients deal with issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, stress management, cultural adjustment, life transitions, grief and loss, and trauma. She often focuses on helping her clients process emotions that are hindering their journeys, encouraging them to recognise their strengths and build resilience to face potential challenges that may present later in life.

In her psychotherapeutic work, Yana integrates various trauma-informed and strength-based approaches including solution focused brief therapy, expressive therapies, mindfulness based family constellations and cognitive behavior therapy, attachment-focused eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, as well as brainspotting, depending on the needs of her clients.

Yana holds a Master in Social Sciences (Counselling) from the University of South Australia. She has a Diploma in Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Counselling Skills. She is a Master Solution-Focused Practitioner and a Certified Advanced Solution-Focused Coach. She holds a graduate and post-graduate certificate in Expressive Therapies, as well as a Certificate in Sandplay Therapy. Yana is trained in Attachment Focused EMDR by the Parnell Institute, as well as brainspotting by Brainspotting Australasia Pacific. She also has a diploma in yoga teaching and a background in dance and dance therapy. This background allows her to include relaxation and visualisation techniques, as well as body awareness and movement when conducting therapy sessions. Yana is a member of the Singapore Association of Counselling.
