General gastroenterology and clinical hepatology with a special interest in managing complications of liver cirrhosis. Treatment of ascites and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, varices and bleeding complications, liver cancer, autoimmune liver and bile duct conditions, chronic viral Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.
Profile:
Dr Woo Shu Jeng is an accredited Specialist in Gastroenterology. He received his early education in Malaysia before being awarded the Youth Flying Club-ASEAN scholarship to complete his Cambridge A Levels at the National Junior College. Subsequently, he won the Malaysian Public Service Department scholarship to study Medicine at the University of Sydney, graduating with honours in the year 2000. After years of experience in Malaysia including stints in obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, accident and trauma, family medicine and antenatal care, Dr Woo decided to advance his career in general medicine, culminating in being awarded the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK in 2008. He then received gastroenterology training at NUS from 2009- 2012. During this period, he received further endoscopic training as a visiting scholar in September 2011 at the Kyushu University Hospital, Japan. His interest at that time was the use of Narrow Band Imaging for the detection of gastric cancer.
After being accredited as a Specialist in Gastroenterology in November 2012, Dr Woo went on to serve at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, practising general gastroenterology and running a dedicated specialist liver clinic. By April 2018, he was part of the pioneering team of specialists setting up the general medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology services at the new Sengkang General Hospital. Apart from clinical duties, Dr Woo is actively involved in teaching medical students, and he is appointed as Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and DUKE-NUS Medical School.
