Profile:

Dr Sheila Loh is a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who also subspecialises in reproductive medicine. She is an accredited in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) specialist with the Ministry of Health (MOH), and was awarded  the Singapore MOH Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship in 1998 for subspeciality training in reproductive endocrinology and IVF centre management at Repromed, Adelaide, Australia and the University of Adelaide.

Dr Loh is the Clinical Director of Raffles Fertility Centre since 2007, and the centre has been providing a comprehensive range of infertility services from various methods evaluation of couples, including fertility investigations, laparoscopy, and hysteroscopy, to treatments such as  superovulation and intrauterine insemination, ovulation induction, and advanced assisted reproductive techniques (e.g in-vitro fertilisation,intracytoplasmic sperm injection programme, blastocyst culture, and blastocyst assessment using AI technology, embryo and  gamete cryopreservation with vitrification).

Dr Loh was the Head of the Reproductive Medicine Department and KKIVF, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital Singapore from 2001-2007. Her past contributions to the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Singapore include being the Chairperson of Reproductive Medicine Subsection, College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Singapore (2005-2011) and Exit Examiner for the College of Obstetricians  and Gynaecologists (2007-2015). She has also served in various working committees such as the Ministry of Health Tissue Biobanking Committee (resource person) (2014-2016), and  Ministry of Health Pro-Tem committee for Human Tissue Framework (2015). She currently sits on the Assisited Reproduction Service Working Committee , Ministry of Health, Singapore. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in United Kingdom, and a member of the Fertility Society of Australia.

In addition to her professional and educational activities, Dr Loh is passionate about helping couples grow their families. Her special interests are individualised ovarian stimulation using Assisted Reproductive Techniques and optimising outcomes in suboptimal responders. She is also among the pioneering infertility specialists in encouraging couples to start their families early and has given numerous public forum talks to provide couples with information on human reproduction and infertility.
