Robotic hip and knee replacements, including partial knee and revision joint replacements. Sports injuries including ligament reconstruction, corrective osteotomies for deformities, arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures, and joint preserving strategies for the knee.

Profile:

Dr Ng Yau Hong is a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery at Raffles Orthopaedic Centre. He obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and subsequently a membership with the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr Ng holds a Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery from NUS and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He completed his clinical fellowship in South Korea under the Health Manpower Development Plan, focusing on complex primary and revision joint replacements, with additional training through travelling fellowships in Sydney and Shanghai.

Prior to joining Raffles Hospital, Dr Ng was a Consultant in the Division of Hip and Knee Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at National University Hospital (NUH). Additionally, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, as well as a Clinical Teacher at National Technology University Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is actively involved in postgraduate orthopaedic teachings, and regularly organises workshops and training courses for resident education, particularly in joint arthroplasty.

Dr Ng is passionate about improving patient experience after hip and knee replacement surgeries. He was instrumental in developing the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocols at NUH and was among the first to routinely implement short-stay joint arthroplasty (under 23 hours). As the Value-Driven Outcome champion for total hip and knee replacements at NUH, he continuously strives to deliver high-quality and cost-effective care.

Dr Ng has expertise in primary and complex joint arthroplasty, revision joint arthroplasty, and the management of complex lower limb deformities. He has a special interest in robotic joint replacements, as well as utilising emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 3D printing in orthopaedic surgery. Dr Ng also has a keen interest in sports injury management, offering adjuvant treatments such as Platelet-Rich Plasma injections and shockwave therapy for soft tissue injuries.
