Profile:

Dr Ng Puay Yong is a Specialist in Neurosurgery. He obtained his basic medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1989. He completed his neurosurgical training in Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia and obtained his fellowship from the Australian College of Surgeons in 1996. Dr Ng has been a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 1999.

Dr Ng furthered his training in neurovascular, skull base tumours, and spine surgery as a visiting fellow at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in 1998. He also spent six months as a visiting fellow in neurovascular surgery at Yale University in 1999. Dr Ng completed his interventional neuroendovascular therapy training in Tohoku University and Kohnan Hospital, Sendai, Japan in March 2004. He completed his training in gamma knife radiosurgery in 1997, and the linear accelerator radiosurgery training course ran by the University of Florida, USA in December 1999.

Prior to joining Raffles Hospital, Dr Ng held various professional appointments, including Chief of Section of Neurovascular Surgery at the National Neuroscience Institute. He was also the Chairman of the National Healthcare Group’s subcommittee on Professional Developmental Training Workgroup for Neurosciences. Additionally, he served as the Honorary Secretary of the Clinical Neuroscience Society Singapore and Medical Advisory Board in Mount Elizabeth Hospital and was the Executive committee member of the Asian Congress Neurological Surgery.
