Dr Heng Hui Mian Nora is the Clinical Director of Raffles Dental, overseeing clinical matters of Raffles Dental clinics in Singapore.
Dr Heng is a Periodontist (gum specialist) based at Raffles Hospital. She attained her Bachelor Dental Surgery (BDS) from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2001. After graduation, she worked as a general dentist in the School Dental Service and National Dental Centre (NDC). In 2003, with a scholarship from German Research Foundation (DFG), she embarked to do her specialist periodontal training in Germany at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin of Berlin, in the Department of “Parodontologie und Synoptische Zahnmedizin” and obtained her Doctor Medicinae Dentinae (Dr. med. Dent.). Under Singapore’s A*STAR National Science Fellowship (for Doctors), she continued to pursue her post-doctoral research in Berlin till end of 2007. Upon her return to Singapore she worked both at NDC as Periodontist and as a Clinician-scientist at SGH (Singhealth). She has been actively involved in scientific research work and has various international publications. In 2011, she joined Raffles Hospital where she practises as a consultant in Periodontology.She has been appointed by NUS Dental Faculty as a part-time tutor for the undergraduate program.
Her professional associations include being a Fellow in Academy of Medicine of Singapore (Periodontology), in the Singapore Periodontology Society (as an Executive Committee member), in Singapore Dental Association (as member), in Asia-Pacific Society of Periodontology (as member) and American Association of Periodontology (as member).
Being a researcher at heart, she believes that critical thinking is needed to constantly drive up-to-date good clinical work. Her areas of interests include gum disease management, periodontal regeneration and soft tissue aesthetics. Her philosophy of dentistry evolves oral health and beyond. The relationship of oral inflammation with systemic diseases has always intrigued her and she loves to work with her patients in a holistic approach to attain overall dental health.
Hobbies: Pilates, music and life exploration with her 2 young children.
